Are any of you in a book club? Some of my girl frangs and I just decided to start one, mostly as an excuse to drink too much wine and gossip on week nights, but also because we all love to read and how great is it when you are so into a newly finished book to gush about the characters and pick apart what you loved and hated about the novel?

We just finished Room by Emma Donoghue and it was amazing.  I know from some of my fellow bookclubbers that not everyone loved it like I did, but everyone so far has agreed it was an incredibly engaging read.  This is the kind of book you start and just cannot put down.  I would say that most of my friends who read this book completed it in under three sittings.

Without giving too much away, it is told through the eyes of a young boy named Jack, who has lived his entire life in a small room where he and his mother have been held captive.  It is incredibly interesting because to the boy this small space is his whole world, and he has known nothing else but the surroundings he was born into.  The book slowly explains the obvious questions the reader has and then goes zero to sixty in a matter of pages with an exciting twist of events.  I highly suggest everyone read this book, it is amazing, thought provoking, and a short read.  I am so excited to snuggle up on the couch with my friends, eat snacks, and gossip about how crazy this book was!  What books would you suggest to a new book club?
