If you thought my Friday night was shameful enough, brace yourselves for the onslaught of things I consumed on Saturday. I told you the Chelsea Inn was the best place to stay due to its affordability, cute quaintness, and location, but another good reason to stay there is you get a complimentary baked good in the morning. It is like the place was made for me. A complimentary fluffy buttery friend you can wake up to each day with a free coffee, yes please!
After I shoved an almond croissant in my mouth and part of Trey’s chocolate croissant, we walked around a bit and then met some friends for Brunch. I had a salmon BLT with avocado and a side salad that wasn’t really work picturing, but I did drink 1 million beers to wash it down. This one is called Toxic Sludge.
After a lot of belly aching and self loathing we finally mustered the strength to go to dinner at 9 o’clock. Typod graciously offered to buy us dinner in NYC, but instead of going somewhere expensive or nice, we decided to go to Oh Taisho, a great decision. I have been experimenting with making ramen super bowls lately and have an amazing recipe I will post next week, but I wanted to see what the pros were doing.
A trendy street food in Japan right now is skewers. Skewers used to be seen as peasant food as scraps of meat, entrails, and other nonchoice cuts would be stuck together and grilled for a meal, but I guess the upper class has caught up and made it kind of a novelty. No I did not eat these:
But we did try a few others including chicken skin that were truly to die for.
We also had some great jasmine tea and pumpkin to go with the meal.
After dinner we went out to a bunch of bars with some good friends and drank way too much.
But wait…there is more… stay tuned.
