This past weekend I was invited to another June baby’s birthday party at my bff Whale’s cottage (I kid you not, it is straight out of a novel) that included badminton and summer cocktails. I don’t know if I have mentioned this on le blog before but I am f-ing awesome at badminton and get incredibly competitive. I really want to start a Richmond Badminton League, but more on that later.
Pretty much everyone who planned this party was either an artist, graphic/interior designer, or restaurant owner. So the decor was outstanding and the food was to die for. Cucumber sandwiches, pimento cheese, tomato tartlettes, watercress spread, you get the idea. The dessert table was cute as a button as well, stocked full of refreshing lemony desserts and the most adorable cake:
Now you can’t have a good birthday party or summer soiree without a great gin cocktail, and this one was very light and bubbly. It felt more like a pick-me-up and it didn’t feel too heavy to drink in the sun. Also, look how beautiful Jennifer’s handwriting is, mine looks like a left-handed 4 year old scratching out Morris Code.
All I can say is that I want to recreate this party every weekend. Delishes treats, refreshing cocktails, and badminton- oh and a birthday boy! What more could you want?
