Black Swan

I would love to fancy myself a ballerina, but lets be real, like every little girl I took ballet until I was 10 and then gave it up because it was too slow, regimented, and I wanted something bouncier like gymnastics.  I regret this decision immensely, mostly because of Center Stage, Black Swan, and this documentary I cannot wait to see:

Don’t lie, you all watched Black Swan too.  You too enviously gazed, while shoving twizzlers in your mouths wishing you could wear a Rodarte leotard, spin around 1 million times on a perfectly arched foot, and just be (or be in between)  Natalie Portman or Mila Kunis .  I have been dabbling in ballet-like exercises from barre, ballet beautiful, and now adult ballet.  Corey and I have been increasingly obsessed with ballerinas and want to do everything in our power to make believe we are that perfect.  It was a natural decision to try out Richmond Ballet’s adult classes. This was such a fun work out and though it was not as muscularly challenging as barre, the focus it requires to control your form, keep with the rhythm, and squeezeeee definitely makes you break a sweat.

Our instructor was explaining to us how the turn out with your hips is why ballerinas have the most beautiful muscles.  The extra flexing and pointing yields the longest leanest type of toning, which scientifically proves why ballerinas have the best bods.  I looked like a damn fool, but it was really fun to spin around the room, work on my plie, and stretch in new ways.  Ever since I started running, I just skraight up stopped stretching, so it is very nice to work on my agility and muscle strength in an effort to stay limber .

It was a very interesting class designed to give teens to adults either a taste of something they had either never tried or improve skills that people like me haven’t used in many years.  There is an advanced class if you are a pro too that hopefully one day I can move up to as well.  All in all I think I want to make ballet a weekly to bi-weekly to work on my flexibility and just in general to play make believe that I am the Swan Queen.

Corey is totes trying to be the Swan Queen. Rude. I will pbb have to stab her with a mirror in my dressing room, I mean what? Too soon?
