As a runner/person that is always on the go, I have struggled to find a protein bar that is actually healthy, delicious, and isn’t chocked full of artificial sweetener poison. I have tried a million different types of bars, but each one fell short in at least one of my categories. Some tasted great at first, but then that weird sugar alcohol/aspartame aftertaste would shine through. Others were too good to be true…because they were and if you read the package they were basically candy bars. Most bars I resorted to had high protein, tasted decent, but I could not pronounce a single thing on the back of the package making me suspicious. If the bars were so good for you then why did they seem chocked full of chemicals? Then I met the perfect protein bar, Perfect Foods Bar.
My boss was eating one in the car the other day and offered me a nibble. I was blown away by how yummy it tasted, like of cookie dough or Reeses cup filling. Naturally I waited for that weird artificial sweetener aftertaste, but nothing happened. I inspected the package for suspicious ingredients assuming there would be lots of ingredients ending in “droxy” “chlorine” and “isolate,” but everything was natural. My boss told me that you can only find these bars at Ellwoods and Fresh Market, and they are actually found in the refrigerated section, because they are that preservative-free. Now some people might find it a nuisance that these bars are only found in that section and that they need to be chilled, but I actually think it is really awesome! Finally a health food bar that owns up to being all-natural and made out of real produce!
I was really curious about how they came up with the bar recipes, because they are protein-rich, gluten-free, soy-free, GMO-free, high in fiber, and they even incorporate veggies into the mix! Check out this ingredient list: Rose Hips, Spinach, Bell Peppers, Alfalfa…the list goes on and I promise you would never even know!
I feel great eating these bars and they have a kind for every diet and palette. For example, a regular bar is 310 calories with lots of good nut fats and proteins (13-17 grams.) This is perfect for breakfast or when I am replacing a meal, but other times I might want just a lighter snack. Luckily they have created Perfect Foods Bar Lite coming in at only 200 calories, or the Perfect Foods Bar Mini, which is a a great 100 calorie pick-me-up. They have tons of flavors like Peanut Butter, Almond Butter, Fruit and Nut, Cranberry Crunch, and Carob Chip, and they are working on debuting a new flavor in the next 6-9 months.
Based out of San Diego, Perfect Foods Bar is a family owned company that was created by father/founder, Dr. Bud Keith who wanted to make a healthy snack for his kids. He wanted no chemical preservatives, artificial ingredients or refined sugars-ever, and took one bite of his creation and exclaimed “It’s PERFECT”, thus Perfect Foods Bar was born.
The lovely people at Perfect Foods Bar have kindly offered a ton of their delicious product to share on the blog, and four lucky winners will receive a swag bag containing a few of each flavor, along with some Almond Butter Minis! Since these little guys need to stay refrigerated a winner will be chosen Monday and I will mail your treats out that day!

Thanks!! I will let you know soon, if not you can scoop some from Ellwoods or Fresh Market!
hmmm I am sure they have an equivalent of that kind of store here in Dallas!? Not sure but I will look into it! Thanks!!
First of all, the above pic is H. O. T. I love the waves and sultry pose. ( :
Also, I would very much like to try some of these bars. I agree with pretty much everything you said: with most bars it’s either candy (which is what Alex buys) or it tastes like crap (which is what I buy… and then I eat Alex’s). So I’m excited to see what Dr. Bud has to offer!
Thanks!! I know I have a special place in my heart for “protein bars” that are basically snickers, sometimes you just gotta lie to yourself when you need the chocolate… but these are really yummy!
Also, I liked on Facebook and will now am exploring the page…
Unf they sound delicious! I’d love to try them.
They are pretty nom! Let me know if you tweet or like them on FB!
Both! And my fingers are crossed for myself. My taste buds want some of that goodness. :3
I’ve never heard of these before! They sound phenomenal, and their ingredients list is impressive! This must be some sort of protein bar magic…I’d love to try them!
I would love to try these bars. I don’t mind that they need to be kept in the refrigerated aisle
I know right?! I sort of love it!

I think it is just made out of good stuff like nuts, egg whites, and veggies…but yea…pretty much magic!
This sounds delicious, I would love to try it!!
I tweeted the giveaway on Twitter!
And I liked Perfect Foods Bar on Facebook!
sounds so good! I hate bars bc they’re not usually either gross or not healthy so what’s the point. and I need morning meal replacement. either I win, or make a trip to fresh market
Thanks for sharing!!
GIMME NOW!
also i should note that i deserve this the most because i’m currently eating stale pretzels dipped in expired nutella. and yes nutella expires. and it expired a really long time ago so help a sister out with a new snack!
The question is: does the Nutella still taste like Nutella? Because I would so be in that boat forever. Throwing away Nutella is like. Major crisis.
Would love to give these a try!
I’m always looking for a clean yummy bar.
Oh you know I’m a huge bar person…must try these now, thanks for the awesome giveaway!!

Have to say that I LOVE that they sent you all that stuff! I will tweet and go like them on fb – but as you know I’m already addicted – so I’m just pleased you are spreading the word to others!! Of course I will blame you when I go into Fresh Market to get my almond ones and the are ALL GONE!!
Marianne you started a Perfect Foods Bar revolution!! They were so generous and even sent me a little hat haha! I sort of want to get us matching ones
Would love to try! I’ve been looking for a high-protein bar, this sounds, well, perfect!
I like that they require refrigeration. makes them seem extra healthy. send one my way
Those look delicious! Finding a good bars is always such a challenge. I feel like I’m always sacrificing something – get the protein; eat the sugar; lose the sugar, eat the chemicals; etc. Maybe these will be the ones!
These sound so awesome! Thanks for the tip! So excited they are natural and can’t wait to try them. I also liked them on FB.
Liked perfect foods on fb (teri)

my wife and I are always looking for tasty & healthy snacks and bars. These sound great. I’ll have to look for them. Of course, free is always nice! Thanks for the info.
I notice you’re also a runner and like cookbooks. I’d suggest checking out Scott Jurek’s Eat and Run if you haven’t before. It has some great recipes. My favorite is the quinoa (he spells it quin-wow) porridge.
Is this giveaway still going on? Did I miss it?
oh whar a shame!!
